Meet The Architect: Castle Homes’ English Country Parade House
When you enter the courtyard of Castle Homes’ beautiful Parade house in Witherspoon, architect Kevin Coffey says the dynamic exterior of the English Country home is achieved with the contrast of the handmade brick and the striking expanse of glass windows boldly trimmed.
The Franklin-based architect focuses exclusively on residential design with his firm, C. Kevin Coffey Dwellings/Design. With over two decades of award-winning experience, he earned a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the University of Kansas and today is adjunct faculty member of the O’More College of Design.
Coffey collaborated once again with Castle Homes’ team and inspiration was found in the English Arts and Crafts style of London architect Sir Edwin Lutyens.
“When collaborating with Castle Homes, we base designs on historical precedent with a fresh design perspective achieving a home with architectural integrity,” Coffey said.
Entering the home via the charming courtyard, the large bank of windows provides a view to the exterior of the home while giving the design a contemporary Arts and Crafts flair says Coffey. The Pella windows are trimmed in Sherwin Williams “Iron Ore.” The antiqued espresso color brick has a subtle range of colors and was handmade in Texas and sourced locally by Union Station.
From the flow of the open living spaces to the back porch designed for green space viewing, the home has incredible attention-to-detail including the staircase.
“Tucked away from the entry, which is indicative of the Arts and Crafts style, the staircase has a second floor landing with a window framing the beautiful view. The swooped roof in this area reflects the exterior roof line and it leads you up the stairs in an interesting way,” Coffey said.

The fall Pinnacle Financial Partners Parade of Homes opens Saturday, October 7 in the beautiful Witherspoon neighborhood off Crockett Road in Brentwood, Tennessee and runs daily through October 22.
